On Friday is the deadline for submitting talks to Meeting C++ 2016. This years theme track is about developing games with C++, the other tracks will be again the popular and general track about C++. Today, #gamedev is regocnized by the SG14 Group in the committee, which tries to add gamedev and low latency specific requirements to C++. To support this work, I decided to make this years theme track about #gamedev.
But this does not mean, that your talk has to have to do something with SG14, submitting a talk on gamedev alone, is of course enough. There is usually not so much competition for a theme track, so that when you submit a talk this year about gamedev, the chances to be accepted are high.
Topics I'd still like to see:
- OpenGL/Graphic Engine specific talks
- Overviews/Introduction into #gamedev Frameworks such as Ogre, Unreal Engine, Crytech, ...
- combining C++ & scripting for games
- mobile gaming
- VR
- your topic?
Like most C++ devs I have also done some gamedev years ago, but today it is not my domain. So above list is incomplete. Also, this is only one track, there are two other tracks for all the non gamedev related talks.
