Great news, we have some upcoming C++ User Groups in Europe! There will be soon C++ User Groups in London, Aachen and Dresden. I'll give some details later on this. First, what C++ User Groups meet in March?
- The C++ User Group from Belgium will have a dinner with Tarek Madkour, Group Programm Manager at the Visual C++ Team! This will be at the 6th of March, but the registration date has passed yesterday.
- In Berlin the C++ User Group will meet again at the 3rd Tuesday at the c-base hackerspace. They haven't yet decided on the talk, but I'm sure, it will be good.
- In Düsseldorf we will meet again at the 3rd Wednesday. This time featuring a talk about how to write your own allocators, showing a simlpe allocator, but also showing how to implement a shared memory allocator. This talk will be in slightly different style also be presented at ACCU 2013!
- The C++ User Group Dresden will meet for the first time in March, at the 13th. Peter Gottschling will present his version of Bjarne Stroustrups C++11 Style Presentation.
- Maybe the C++ User Group in London will meet too.
C++ User Group Update
I finally can announce some new C++ User Groups! First, our very own C++ User Group will grow, and have a 2nd home in Aachen, which is great, because Aachen offers a lot of interest in C++ through its technical university.
Then, the C++ User Group in Dresden will also meet in March, they found a good place to meet at. Last years speaker Peter Gottschling is one of the organizers.
London
Then, finally I can say some details to London. In order to get a user group started, you'll need to have a person willing to organize it, and I have found that person for london at the Black Berry Jam Europe. Jason has already found the perfect place for the meetings, and the user group will meet there first time in may. May? Yes, our preferred place is fully booked till then. Thats sad, but we will start sooner, if we find a place to meet. Plan was to launch this also in March, but finding a fitting location can be some times quite hard. London has no fitting hackerspace which could host them. In case you know of a location, where the C++ User Group could meet in March or April, use the contact form, I will inform Jason then.
C++Now 2013
Last but not least, I want to shortly mention, that I will give a talk with Jonathan Kalb at C++Now 2013 about C++ Community Development. It will be a full evening session on one of the evenings.
