This years Meeting C++ conference is so close! It is a month until we meet in Berlin and online for the 12th time.
But technically, Meeting C++ 2023 has started today with the first prerecordings for the online track. There is a second prerecording planned for the 24th of October, this and more prerecording events will be published at Meeting C++ online.
Keynote Speakers
- Kevlin Henney: A renowned trainer and speaker on various tech topics.
- Lydia Pintscher: Brings a wealth of experience from her roles at KDE.
- Ivan Čukić: a well known expert in functional programming, Qt, C++ and KDE.
You can look forward to interesting keynotes covering a wide range of topics related to C++!
The event will feature 4 tracks with 11 slots, 44 Talks in total. These tracks are known as A - D, A will be hybrid and feature a livestream to the online part. B and C are onsite, with the goal is to also stream these if this becomes feasible - which we are really close to! The D Track is online only. The conference includes access to the post recording, e.g. you can see the recorded talks of the conference later!
The online conference
An update for the online part that may get announced is that we're able to stream all 3 tracks from Berlin. That is currently one of the things that is in flight. This would also have the advantage that all tracks can be accessed after the event to be viewed as recordings. All tickets cover the post recording access at Meeting C++ 2023.
I do want to highlight the online part, again - like in the last two years - we'll be using hubilo for the setup. Everything will be available to you within a few clicks. The student and support programs offer limited free tickets for the online event.
During 2023 it has became clear that other big C++ conferences have stopped offering the online option. Due to not enough sales or too much of an overhead. Meeting C++ is committed to offer an online part, and has plans to continue to do so. It is also the basis on which Meeting C++ online, the C++ user group of Meeting C++ is build upon.
Also its clear that not everyone likes the online format, thats fine. But there is a group of folks which may rely on it, a part of our community that can be and should be included. This goes from parents over students to all the international folks not albe to come to Berlin for various reasons. This also offers Meetign C++ a spot to host speakers which otherwise would not be albe to come to Berlin. And recent online surveys have shown a clear interest in the community on such events to continue.
Like last year we will prerecord the talks, so that speakers can hang out with you in the chat during their talks and answer the questions live. This worked very well last year. Whats different this year is the plan to hold public precording events with Meeting C++ online. The first one will be on October 12th, with more following in the second half of the month. This gives speakers two chances to engage with the audience of Meeting C++ and gives the C++ community an opportunity to see some of the talks.
Meeting C++ online job fair
The 4th and last job fair in 2023 is planned for November 28th & 29th. At the moment Meeting C++ is mostly looking for employers willing to join. So does your employer have open positions? Then they should be joining the job fair and post the open position to Meetnig C++!
But there is a new feature in the CV/resume sharing form: you already can list your CV/resume for future employers. Employers sponsoring the job fair or Meeting C++ 2023 have access to the list. So signing up to the job fair gives an employer now directly access to candidates which chose to be listed for future employers too.
