Position Description

DigiPen-KMU Special Program is seeking a qualified and highly independent applicant to teach C/C++ Programming and other Computer Science related topics. Here we teach a combination of computer science and game development related courses within the undergraduate Computer Science in Real-Time Interactive Simulation program. Join our faculty team and help students develop the necessary skills to succeed in the game industry or another CS related industry.

This is a full-time lecturer position contracted by DigiPen Institute of Technology, with teaching duties based at Keimyung University in Daegu, South Korea. Employment will be administered through DigiPen Singapore, and compensation will be issued accordingly.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $70,000–$90,000 USD annually, commensurate with experience and credentials. While this may be lower than typical software industry salaries, our faculty members often find that the significantly lower cost of living in Daegu combined with favorable tax conditions allows for a high standard of living and meaningful personal savings even with a family of four.

Faculty are paid year-round, including during academic breaks, with no teaching responsibilities required between semesters.

Visa and Relocation Support

We provide support for obtaining a Korean work visa for qualified applicants. Candidates who meet the required qualifications, a bachelor's degree or higher and a minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience, are generally eligible for visa sponsorship under Korean employment regulations. Having worked for a globally known company or if a past employer partnered with one, like Microsoft or a FAANG company, will greatly increase the chances of getting a work VISA.

You would be responsible for teaching 3-4 of the following Computer Science courses from the first four semesters of the RTIS program at any given time.

About DigiPen-KMU Special Program

The DigiPen-KMU Special Program is a dual-degree program where students spend five semesters at Keimyung University in Daegu, South Korea before completing the program's last four semesters at DigiPen's main campus in Redmond, Washington, USA. For the first two years of the program, students study advanced mathematics as well as general computer programming in C/C++ at Keimyung University. Students then apply these subjects to their freshman and sophomore game projects. First-year students create 2D game projects using a C-based framework and a basic graphics engine. Sophomores collaborate on game teams to build their own 2D game and graphics engine. During the last two years of the program, students study advanced computer science topics at DigiPen in Redmond while taking more elective-based coursework.
