A gentle introduction to Reflection

Join session

Lieven de Cock

On Day 1 at 16:00 (CET/Berlin) in Track B [Opal Room and online]

Static reflection in C++26 is a major feature; it is considered a game changer. We will look at some basic things we can do with it. We'll only be scratching the surface of what is possible, but it should whet your appetite and get you dreaming.
We will be creating a universal printer (which can also print enumerations) and parsing command-line arguments in a scalable way.
Next, we will determine if there is padding in our types, and we might also generate some new types if time permits. These are all nice little things that are now possible thanks to reflection.
