Modern Craft in Ancient Codebases - A Survival Guide

I have been programming professionally for over 15 years. Initially as a working student alongside my computer science degree, with my degree I transitioned into a full time full stack .NET developer. But even back then, C++ was close to my heart. Thanks to a job change I finally could programm with C++ for my livining and doing it for 7-ish years.

Due to my career path, I was exposed to many legacy project, joined various teams and learned the value of good designed and well written code. Furthermore, I learned, that good design and good code is independent of any language. But I also learned that bringing in ideas, can sometimes backfire devastatingly.

This all brought me to the point, where I strive to write good code, and increase my toolbox - especially in contemporary C++. But after all I'm also interested in the people site, because that's the hard neglected part of writing good software as a team.
